Of course we had a pot luck. Who doesn't love potlucks?!?! Our friends at Kraft supplied us with some yummy treats, and there were some delicious apps, desserts and punch!
We had a cookie exchange. The premise of this is that you make six dozen of the same kind of cookie, then bring them to the party and trade them off with your friends. You end up with six dozen different kinds of cookies to take home, and when you're entertaining over the holidays your friends and family think you baked all these glorious creations! "Where did you find the time?" "Wow, you're super mom!"
Then we had a mom's speed dating - if anyone can come up with a better name, I'd love to hear it! Essentially what we did was sit around a long table, ensuring that you're sitting across from someone. We were given two (or ten) minutes to chat with the person across from us and get to know them a little better. When time was up, we moved down to the next seat and got to know the person across from us there. One thing that's really important is to have a buzzer that works ;)
Finally, we had a gingerbread making contest. All of our mamas got a mini-gingerbread house to decorate and assemble. Some creations were gorgeous. Some were not, haha!
